Summary/Abstract: Modern linguistics, primarily linguistics based on a cognitivist approach, accepts metaphor as a mechanism of thought that underlies the human conceptual system and represents its basic organizational principle. The theory of George Lakoff and Mark Johnson, described in the book Metaphors That Mean Life (1980), is based on this. The theory represents the idea that human projection in the physical and cultural domain, shapes its conceptual system. Most of the conceptual system is metaphorical, so metaphors structure our perception, thought and action. In this regard, it is useful to analyze metaphorical expression in musical texts that rests not only on previously understood poetic metaphors characterized by stylistic potential, as poetic ornaments that have a decorative and rhetorical function, but more often on conceptual metaphors. By discovering and analyzing these concepts, we have defi ned the ways in which people think, express emotions, understand the world and the relationships within it, whereby the same concepts actually set cultural patterns. That is why it is extremely important to analyze cognitive concepts, in musical texts that were created for the sake of people and which were massively supported by the people. In this way, the language, culture and emotions of the community in which they originate are discussed with the help of conceptual metaphors. That is why this segment of artistic expression is important for understanding human psychology in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
