Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the frequency rate of occurrence of computer jargon in students’ colloquial speech. The ratio of borrowings to their Lithuanian equivalents is also explored. The methods of the research include the analysis of the data obtained in the questionnaire survey and in the statistical processing. The results show that jargons prevail in students’ colloquial speech. The reasons for rejecting Lithuanian equivalents are analysed. Most probably students are influenced by the environment in which they communicate. The paper aims to research and analyse terms for the purpose of promoting correct usage.
