Establishing international maritime law agreements in the French law

Summary/Abstract: Many international conventions have been adopted in view of harmonizing the rules applicable to maritime transport. However, it is up to domestic law to determine the application of international law. The nature of international conventions in maritime law, which are directly applicable in French law, implies interaction with other regulations, whether internal or European. The resulting conflicts reveal the difficuty of drafting international conventions and question the ultimate goal of the unification of maritime law.
