The moderate action of the IMO in its fight against climate changes

Summary/Abstract: For many years, the International Maritime Organization has been taking action on climate change. Negotiations within the Marine Environment Protection Committee of the IMO are often difficult and vigorous. Nevertheless, the MEPC successfully adopted the initial IMO strategy on the reduction of GHG emissions from ships in 2018. This text represents a major step forward for the environment, but much more remains to be done.
