Summary/Abstract: The subject of this study is the conditions that determine admission to the professions of a police officer and a qualified physical security guard. In turn, it aims to assess the legitimacy of the differences that occur in the prerequisites for their performance. By the assumption, indicated in the first part of the study, the significant similarity of professional tasks performed by a uniformed police officer and a qualified physical security guard should affect the comparability of prerequisites that restrict access to these two professions. The comparison of prerequisites that determine admission to the analysed professions reveals many differences. We can identify two types of discrepancies: fully justified, as well as those whose occurrence raises serious doubts. For the latter group, the author presented several postulates de lege ferenda.
