Summary/Abstract: Nowadays, aesthetic medicine in its broadest sense is extremely popular. Social media determine the aesthetics of appearance, indicating what is currently considered fashionable and beautiful. Therefore, the use of botulinum toxin as a substance allowing to get rid of unwanted facial imperfections is becoming increasingly popular. However, aesthetic medicine procedures in which this substance is used are not legally regulated. Current legislation does not clearly define who can use botulinum toxin. Given this, botulinum toxin is often used by people who are not medically qualified to use this substance. The article aims to indicate the properties and use of botulinum toxin and the legal consequences of its misuse. The article is enriched by the authors’ own research, conducted in the form of a case study.
