Summary/Abstract: Zinaisa Hippius’ poems illustrate a spiritual and religious crisis, which Russia faced at the end of the century. The heroes of her poetry want to change the society by reinterpreting the Christian values, as they rely on the revolutionary mentality and individualism. According to Hippius, Earth is the place where her socio-political beliefs can be found, along with religious models of the ideal order, represented by The Kingdom of God. The current article aims to explore this project of Hippius’, which she portrays as an utopia. To do so, we are going to analyse 3 concepts, tightly bonded to one another, which influence her poetry greatly: the notion of individualism and society, religious rebirth and sexual liberation.
