Summary/Abstract: The Macedonian Question is a real entanglement of elements belonging to Balkan history and ethnocultural identity, whose beginnings can be located at the end of the XIX-th century as a struggle between the newly formed Balkan nation states to incorporate the historical territory of Macedonia. A century later, in 1991, the dissolution of Yugoslavia brought about a renewal of the Macedonian Question in a new ethnocultural, political and social context, similar to the one that caused the end of the Yugoslav Federation and the Yugoslav Wars. In this article, we will focus on some of the ethnic and cultural issues that emerged after the separation of FYROM between the Slavic Macedonian majority and the Albanian minority in an attempt to formulate another, non-ethnic perspective on the situation.
