Summary/Abstract: This article discusses the contradictions generated by the social movement for the emancipation of women, especially in the Russian state. In the story of Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Nikolai Leskov emphasises the idea that the promotion of the tabula rasa model among women can have harmful consequences both for the individual and for society
