Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the power of the police authorities to legally restrict the right to free movement and the practical application of the rights of detainees. In recent years, various guarantees have been developed in Bulgaria to reduce the risk of illegal detention. These guarantees include the preparation of the necessary documentation in full respect of the rights of detainees and the timely judicial review of detention.
