Summary/Abstract: In this article, I intend to prove how reality in theatre has been influenced over the centuries by a series of historical, social and political external elements. Reality in theatre has also been influenced by the personal perception of all the participants to the phenomenon: the audience, the directors, actors, playwrights, set designers etc. if we ware to take into consideration that the only reality worthy of its name is the objective one, then the theatre is at the opposite pole, as through its nature, it is a subjective manifestation. Reality in art and theatre is a concept through which there is developing a constant (re)interpretation of a certain vision about the evolution of civilization and history.
