Summary/Abstract: The international folklore competition „Pautalia“ – Kyustendil was established in 2007. It is held annually in late June or early July; it is organized by Chitalishte „Bratstvo 1869“ – Kyustendil. The purpose of this report is to indicate the preconditions that led to the emergence of the forum, as well as to trace its development in the period from its establishment to 2016. The changes in the regulations during the years of its implementation are being followed. An analysis of the participants and the repertoire presented by them in each of the editions has been made. Finally, an analysis and summary of the overall development of the competition over the years has been made. As a contribution to the text, it can be pointed out that such a thorough review has been made for the first time; it includes an analysis of the participants in the international folklore competition, showing the strengths and weaknesses and prospects of the edition as a whole.
