SŁAWOMIR PETELICKI (1946–2012) – THE FIRST COMMANDER OF THE GROM MILITARY UNIT UNDER THE NAME OF CICHOCIEMNI PARATROOPERS HOME ARMYTHE

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this thesis is to introduce the figure of General Sławomir Petelicki in the context of his actions for security, especially the appointment and command of the GROM Military Unit. GROM Military Unit has become an important part of the Polish model of internal and national security and brought closer the efforts of our state to unify and standardize with NATO structures. The methods used in this thesis are the following: collection and analysis of literature, and in particular, of the extensive memoirs on the figure of General S. Petelicki and the GROM Military Unit. A scientific lecture, a research method, and a working hypothesis were created on this basis – the hypothesis was discussed and documented. It is advisable to further analyze the research undertaken in the future, including the documents (domestic and foreign) which will be made available. At present they are generally classified due to their sensitivity and importance for the safety of people and the state.
