Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the problem of the interactions between the fields of science and practice in the area of two disciplines – pedagogy and medicine, on the example of their representatives gathered around Helena Radlińska within the Free Polish University in Warsaw and Lodz. The focus was mainly on the period of the Second Polish Republic. The article refers to the shared generational experiences of three people: the founder of social pedagogy – Helena Radlińska, and representatives of the medical profession – Stefan Kopcinski and Seweryn Sterling. In each case, they associated their activities with secret or open educational and patriotic organizations, creating a link between the period of partitioning and the independence of Poland.
