Summary/Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has redefined every aspect of human life, including economic, social and economic. It marked humanity with the stigma of a “modern” plague that brings death, chaos, doubt, limitations, and loneliness. However, what means the end for some, for others it is a beginning, a chance for development, an opportunity to reach “for something new”. Being entrepreneurial in such a difficult time requires courage, commitment and certainly ingenuity, and individuals possessing such features can undoubtedly be found among people setting up a business, starting their “adventure” with broadly understood business. There are many women among them. The aim of the article was, firstly, to present the entrepreneurial behaviour of women who in the years 2016–2021 set up a business in four cities with poviat status in the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship (Poland), with particular emphasis on the number and types of companies established by them, especially of a service nature; secondly, to determine whether the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on the entrepreneurial decisions of women in: Jelenia Góra, Legnica, Wałbrzych and Wrocław. Analyses – based on the desc research method and deduction – were made on selected statistical data obtained from the Central Statistical Office, based mainly on the REGON and the PKD statement. The types of activities that were most popular among women deciding to start their own business were indicated, while the COVID-19 pandemic did not significantly change the type of registered activities in the surveyed group.
