THE INFLUX OF REFUGEES FROM UKRAINE - UNIONAL AND NATIONAL MECHANISMS REGARDING TEMPORARY PROTECTION OR ASYLUM REQUEST

Summary/Abstract: On February 24, 2022, the Russian Federation launched a military invasion of Ukraine, the conflict generating implications for the European Union, namely the pressure of immigration at its eastern borders, endangering European stability.Faced with this reality, Member States have activated the temporary protection provided by Directive 2001/55 / EC, in order to allow temporary refuge in the European Union as well as the sharing of responsibility among Member States for managing the situation of refugees in Ukraine.In accordance with the union legislative approach, the Romanian Government adopted the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 15/2022 on providing humanitarian support and assistance by the Romanian state to foreign citizens or stateless persons in special situations, from the area of armed conflict in Ukraine by Emergency Ordinance no. 20/2022.
