Summary/Abstract: This article aims to develop a coherent theological connection between Paul’s doctrine of justification and his ethical teaching. It begins with the observation that both parts of Paul’s theology are bound together by their common relatedness to the Christian community. Paul’s doctrine of justification and his ethics are here interpreted as aspects of his ecclesiology. Within this framework Paul’s ethical teaching can be viewed as the theological sister of his doctrine of justification: the latter argues in favour of an ecclesial inclusiveness that is created by faith in Jesus Christ, whilst in the former, Paul summons his readers to display the commonality of their identity at their meetings and in everyday life.
