Summary/Abstract: The Loreley motif, originally from German popular literature, was taken up by Clemens Brentano and Heinrich Heine, authors from the romantic period of the early 19th century. If in Clemens Brentano the illustration of the myth of the Rhine valley is done in the form of a ballad, and the central female figure is represented directly as a witch, in Heinrich Heine the central character, called "the young woman", has as a magical attribute only the song, which charms the sailors, who are finally swallowed by the waters. The poems have romantic elements in common such as: the Rhine, the connection with the nature, the fantasy, the sentimentality, the reference to fairy tale elements, but they are different on a formal level, as a literary species and in length.
