Summary/Abstract: Starting from a text written by Sebastien Marot, philosopher and architecture critic, we began this study with the wish to ask some questions to our profession in the our age context. As the author explains, landscape architects had an essential role during culturally prosperous times and we can evoke some important historical examples in chronological order: Villa Hadrian – Tivoli, Italy, Santa Maria de Poblet Monastery, Spain, Villa Lante – Italy or the imperial gardens of Versailles – the latter generating major transformations at thinking level of architectural spaces, principles afterwards applied to the urbanization of Paris through the project proposed by Baron Haussmann.
