Sociological Studies on Architecture: Towards Architecture as a Process of (Re)constructing

Summary/Abstract: The article addresses sociologists’ evolving interest in the study of architecture observed over the last few decades. The first part constitutes a critical review of existing approaches to sociological reflections on architecture. This is followed by a presentation of three areas of research that clearly show a paradigm shift: from object to process. The last section indicates the consequences of researchers adopting an understanding of architecture as a dynamic object that becomes a fully-fledged actor in societal life.
