Summary/Abstract: We propose to look at the 1950s–60s Polish documentaries about Svalbard through the prism of visual geography. We analyse the films by Włodzimierz Puchalski and Jarosław Brzozowski. Svalbard’s landscape appears as a character in these films. The films have not been considered from a geographical viewpoint before, and some of them have not yet been studied at all.
