Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the first season of HBO Max show Raised by Wolves (2020, showrunner: Aaron Guzikowski), tracing its ways of presenting parental identities. It focuses on the way the family is portrayed, on the figure of the mother that seems to be central to the story, and on the problem of reproduction, within the broader context of the construction of the fictional universe. By tracing the representations shown in Raised by Wolves, the article reveals their rooting within earlier, 20th century visions of the family, womanhood, motherhood, science and technology, while simultaneously noting their transformations. Thus, the analysis of the show allows the author to look at the changes of the erstwhile emancipation projects (especially linked to feminism) and to note how the popular science fiction show reflects contemporary ideas of parenthood and its social role.
