Intensives of the type orobić się in colloquial regional Polish

Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article are the verbs with the prefix o- and the postfix się, e.g. orobić się ‘to work very hard, toil’, oczekać się ‘to wait a long time’, which semantically indicate the intensity of action. The analysis takes into account formal, semantic and functional aspects. The reasons for the frequent occurrence of such derivatives in colloquial Polish are also discussed.
