Summary/Abstract: Stanisław Staszic (1755-1826) was an eminent enlightenment thinker, adherent of social reforms and the father of Polish geology. In his travel journal, he described, among other things, three journeys he made in the years 1789-1795. There are descriptions of a sightseeing trip to the vicinity of Krakow and foreign trips to Austria and Italy. During these trips, Staszic devoted a lot of time and energy to conducting nature observations in the field. He wrote down his observations and thoughts in his travel journal. In those years, Staszic was a tutor of young magnates from the Zamoyski family. However, his attention was mainly focused on geological, economic, natural and social issues, but not on educational problems. He used later observations made and written down during these journeys in his scientific and professional work
