Summary/Abstract: Our study aims to analyze the exegetical work Marital Catechesis. Homilies to marriage of Saint John Chrysostom, having as main theme the family, an institution that enjoyed a deep appreciation from the Holy Apostles. Saint John Chrysostom links marriage to a mystery of nature, but working together with God and not to what we legally call the mystery of marriage. The family, in his conception, is a small Church. The quotations chosen from the Scripture by Staint John prove that the study of Scripture does not make sense to itself, but only if there is a spiritual benefit and helps to save the soul.
