Summary/Abstract: In connection with the necessary conservation of the 52 sculls of rebels from the defeated at the monastery of Drjanovo during May 1876 detachment of priest Khariton and Bačo Kiro a medical and anthropological examination through the use of comprehensive medical and anthropological methods has also been made. By reading the metric and descriptive marks of the sculls information was obtained about the anthropological type of the perished. Special attention was drawn to the traumatic changes of slaying, ruptures, breaking, fire inlet and outlet openings. The exact number of the wounds has been established, their location, the type and means of the traumas. A wide historical verification is made about the actions which took place at the Drjanovo Monastery in May 1876, about the number of the casualties and the conduct and atrocity of the oppressor. There is an examination also on the fate of the remains of the perished in the combats to present days. The reasons for their conservation and a safekeeping as a part of our national historical memory are emphasized. The carried out medical and anthropological research adds to the already known in our literature and specifies the existing acts.
