Summary/Abstract: The founded on 1st July 1920 Bulgarian National Marine Agreement was our first marine popular organization which also existed for the longest period. Its activists and ideologists used numerous propaganda, cultural and educational measures, oriented towards accelerated naval development of our country, through utilization of all resources of its watersides. For the first time the naval problems of Bulgaria were put under public estimation and control. The long-term goal of these efforts was the lasting naval education of the population and the youth. The Bulgarian People’s Marine Union developed and proved to be an active regulator of the marine life and policy between the two World Wars and as a mainstay of the created at that time marine public movement. Considerably successful in the cultural and not so in the material sphere of the marine build-up, the Bulgarian National Marine Union gained prestige and achievements, which were preserved even after the decline, which started towards the end of the 30’s. With its success the union gave impetus for the activity of the National Marine Union, which succeeded it during 1945–1947.
