Summary/Abstract: In a context of major progresses made as early as the thirteenth century, this paper aims to analyse the cultural development of a selection of Serbian monasteries, considering their manuscript production in the fourteenth century. If for the key monasteries of Hilandar, on Mount Athos, and Visoki Dečani, in Serbia, the evidence collected turns out to be manifold, it is nevertheless interesting to note that some knowledge can be re¬constructed in the scriptoria of the monasteries of Studenica in Serbia, and in the kellion of Karyes and the monastery of Saint Panteleimon on Mount Athos. The results of this research, together with further studies, attempt to contribute to a better understanding of the literary and writing situation in the medieval Serbian territory before the Ottoman attacks at the end of the century.
