Summary/Abstract: In the novel White spirit, the image of postcolonial Africa initiated by Paule Constant shows not only some stereotypes from exotic and colonial literature but also those recent from the neocolonialism novel. However, thanks especially to her imagination and a writing marked with the polyphony, the novelist shows a real uniqueness. She stands up for Africa fulminating against occidental capitalism. She shows the adverse effects of this capitalism above the otherness. So she shows an imagologic attitude which is « pro-alter ».
