Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the conception of the importance of national self-determination as a criterion for belonging to a nationality. The typical case of spontaneous declarations of Bulgarian national identity is indicate in the Republic of Kosovo. The ancestral memory of aristocratic origin is expressed by specific local dialect.
