Summary/Abstract: This paper has in its center the novel Străina, the final volume from the Hallipa saga, published by the editor Gabriela Omăt. Our research focuses on reading fragments from this book in relation to Eminescu ’s poetry, starting from the subtle allusions inserted by Hortensia Papadat- Bengescu in the text. We stress her predilection for the Romantic poet, originated in her childhood, and his role in the novelist’s creative process. After analyzing the texts, the richness of symbols and metaphors, the lyric tones of some passages, the narrowed point of view, the return of certain themes such as loneliness, alienation, ideal love, show us that the novel Străina brings about a return to the origins, to the writer ’s early writings, those so-called the subjective prose.
