Trends in linguistics at the core of integration

Summary/Abstract: Very often, when seen through the linguistic prism of analysis and evaluation, a given trend in linguistics is presented as significantly opposed to a previous one, meant to be replaced with a view of the establishment of a new optimal, more promising and progressive model. “Unlike...” is a term often used in order to focus on the differences, without paying much attention to the similarities, often many and with significance for the future, applicability and efficiency of linguistics. The purpose of this study is to prove that even the most distant platforms in terms of ideas and concepts, cannot be labelled “old” and “new”; rather they converge, overlap in terms of their scope, are mutually complementary and mutually enriching, and thus cancel the “need” for reciprocal ignoring.
