Summary/Abstract: The paper makes a brief review of the quantitative research carried out – wholly or in part – on data extracted from the Balkan languages and dialects from the end of the 20th century to the present. The most recent achievements in the field of areal linguistics are discussed, with a special emphasis on their application to the Balkan areal, dialectal measurements of Balkan linguistic data. The application of quantitative methods to the study of separate Balkan languages with the aim of (researcching the “contact” history of teh formation of dialectal (micro)areals as to corpus data is also elaborated on.
