Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on selected art works by the Cracow artist Leszek Sobocki, from the collection of the European Solidarity Centre. This group of works refer directly to the events related to Polish history in the 20th century, including the workers’ demonstrations in December 1970, the strikes in August 1980, the rise of the Solidarity movement as well as the introduction of Martial Law. The presented art works show artist’s attitude to the communist government and its ruthless mechanisms of operation. They are a record of the human struggle for individuality.
