Summary/Abstract: The article makes an attempt to search and critically to rationalize the scanty facts and contradictory evidences about the personality and deeds of Andon Nikopit – a teacher in Greek language in Veliko Tarnovo during the 1820s – 1830s, participant in the so-called “Veltchova zavera” (1835), author of school-didactic writings. Efforts are made the life biography of A. Nikopit to be identified and differentiated from the biographies of other educationalists, with similar names – Andoncho the teacher, Andon the Kraichev. The stay of the teacher-Hellenist in Veliko Tarnovo is confirmed by the close relationship with the bishop Ilarion Kritski, the teacher Ivan Simeonov from Turlis and father Zotic. And his partnership in the prepared uprising is connected with the role of a hole group of revival participants from our south-western districts, who after the Greek liberation movement of 1821 have gone to Tarnovo. A question is put for the place of A. Nikopit in the revival process. An analysis is made of his deeds and a valuation of their nature, on the basis of the educational deeds during the 1840s – 1850s.
