Out of the Correspondence of Alexander Burmov

Summary/Abstract: The suggested publication includes part of the correspondence of Al. Burmov with eminent Bulgarian scientists – professors. The letters are a rich source of a versatile information about the life time and creative maturity of its author, and at the same time valuable document for the atmosphere of the scientific circles in the period between the wars. They show the development of our historical science and especially the relations between the different generations in it. Alexander Burmov dies too young, only 54 years old (3.IX.1965), but his presence in the science and the whole cultural life of Bulgaria in that period is bright and significant. The published letters are taken from the personal fonds of the respective correspondents, kept in the Scientific Archive of BAS, with the exception of the fond of Sv. Georgiev, which is kept in the Central State History Archive. The letters are arranged chronologically, for each correspondent apart, but under a common numeration. They are published completely, without abbreviations, and to each one separately the necessary notes and explanations are made.
