Summary/Abstract: After the 9th of September 1944 the problems of industry in Bulgaria were not solved on the basis of a sober and well-grounded analysis of the economy, but in pursuit of political goals. The paper examines and analyses the organization of the Workers’ Control in the district of Pleven. The basic problems in the study are connected with the processes of the political consolidation of the working class, the relations between the workers and the owners of industrial enterprises, the forms and methods applied in the accomplishment of control. The author draws the conclusion that, besides purely syndical functions, the Workers’ Control authorities; took up political functions as well, assisting the realization of the economic concept of the Bulgarian Workers’ Party (Communists). The Workers’ Control took a direct part in the processes of limiting and liquidating private property in industry.
