Summary/Abstract: This study is in the form of a non-traditional structure which allows in a scientific and objective way to present the views and proposals of economists and specialists, MPs and public figures, of state departments and political forces on the essence of the Labour Land Property Act, on the expected results of its implementation and on the directions of the structural changes in agriculture. The article reveals what was common and what was different in the approach to and the views on the realization of the co-operative idea, and the conception invested in the land reform is analysed. The conclusion is drawn that the Labour Land Property Act was a peculiar form of dispossession and of nationalization of agricultural property. The forcing of the socialist reorganization of agriculture by the political factors and their disregard for the fundamental principles of the co-operative cultivation of the land could hardly be defined as an economic success for an agrarian country like Bulgaria. The authoress does not share the thesis adopted in the scientific literature of the fair and progressive nature of the reform as approved by Parliament.
