Summary/Abstract: In June 1918 the ruling Liberal coalition withdrew from the administration after a series of political perturbations. In the article they are examined chronologically and their true nature is revealed. The conclusion is drawn that during the years of the First World War the Liberal cabinet was in a state of permanent political instability. It was conditioned by the chronic instances of incorrectness on the part of King Ferdinand towards the prime minister and his team, by Radoslavov’s immoderate attitude towards individual ministers, by the pressure by leading figures of the Internal Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Organization for ministerial changes, by the unsuccessful attempts of the opposition to pass a vote of censure on the government, by friction in the Liberal coalition itself, caused by disagreements on home and foreign policy issues, and by personal relationship. The resignations provoked by Ferdinand’s defiance towards the cabinet and by Radoslavov’s towards certain of its members, as well as the pressure caused by the Internal Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Organization and by Parliament were surmounted without particular difficulty and almost quietly. D.Petkov’s three resignation, caused chiefly by political considerations of an internal and external character and to some extent by the unfriendly relationship with Radoslavov, seriously threatened the Liberal cabinet. They affected its most vulnerable side: the insignificant majority in Parliament, and the most stable one: the identical views on foreign policy. The contents of the three resignations showed an evolution in the positions of the Popular Liberals on the most reliable aspect: the attitude towards foreign policy. D.Petkov’s third resignation in June 1918 was the cause for the coming to light of the carefully hidden permanent state of crisis of the Liberal Government. The cabinet crisis that was triggered off was the last political cataclysm which in interaction with the objective historical conditions forced the Liberals to descend from the political scene.
