Summary/Abstract: The content of the article deals with an important element of the sculpture – the pedestal/ plinth. On it are inlaid all the main data related to the theme of the sculpture, the technique of execution, the time when it was executed and the name of the author. Pedestals can differ in shape, size and proportion. The ways of interpreting the pedestal/plinth in sculpture require knowledge of the purpose of its placement in a particular architectural or landscape environment. Some pedestals from the works of the great Romanian sculptor C. Brâncuşi are also analyzed as examples.
