Summary/Abstract: This article concerns the socio-cultural activity of the League of Women. This organization was formed during World War I in Galicia to support the legionary movement. It brought together women who were helping Legion soldiers and their families. The main activity of the League was the provisioning of supplies to soldiers at the front and the care of wounded legionnaires, as well as the care of children in institutions set up for this purpose and in health and recreation camps. The largest such institution, the Józef Piłsudski day-care centre in Lwów, applied the latest achievements of New Education pedagogy. Fryderyka Lazarus and Janina Kelles-Krauz played an important role in organizing the activities of the League of Women.
