Summary/Abstract: In the weave of many problems, constant political and social changes, a man is asked how to respond to the surrounding reality, to the past, to tradition and the issues of the future, its uncertainty and ambiguity. Konstanty Michalski, is considered one of the greatest creators of contemporary Catholic culture in Poland. Understanding the philosophy of history as a metaphysical discipline in connection with the philosophical concept of man carries the task of discovering the causes of the development of historical reality. A man bound by social relations becomes, along with his natural conditions and openness to supernatural activity, the subject and creator of human history. Man can be treated not only instrumentally, but as one of the causes of history, and thus as their creator. In this regard, Michalski clearly draws attention to the question of how far the sources of history lie in the material sphere of a human being and how much they are in his spirit.
