Summary/Abstract: I was one of those who set up in France in 2003 the special training plan for payroll technicians under the authority of the Order of Certified Accountants (Nice, France). This plan was set up in two places, Paris and Pau. I was the English professor for the Paris training program for 13 years. First, the students were from all over the world. They all spoke French as a communicational language though it was not necessarily their first language. They also covered five religions/cultures and a dozen national languages. Second, their future jobs in international companies will require they could help all in-coming or out-going workers to cope with payroll problems in France or foreign countries in Europe or the world. So, they had to know what a paycheck is in other countries. Third, they had to have some knowledge about Social Security and Health Services in foreign countries. I privileged, here too, the UK and the USA. Fourth, they had to be able to cope with diversity and the regulations or laws attached to such problems in the UK, the USA, and from ILO’s point of view. That concerns all rights workers may have and how they come into the paycheck. Fifth, these third-year college students had to have at least one international language besides French (English was compulsory on the syllabus of the training program), but also an open vision of the problems French workers could encounter in foreign countries and foreign workers may encounter in France. The studying plan was based on guided self-learning that covered payroll, employment, diversity, and other social problems for workers in the UK and the USA. This approach is meant to develop social sustainability among future paycheck technicians.
