Summary/Abstract: This article has proposed a retrospective of the linguistic situation of Algeria since its independence until today. Our interest in plurilingualism leads us to ask questions about the languages present in Algeria, as well as their respective status in the Algerian linguistic environment. The linguistic question in Algeria is the indicative ground of the debates which mark the problems related to the different sectors of the life of our country. We can not ignore today in our country the debates that are taking place on the question of languages and their teachings. In this article, we try to understand how the new orientations in terms of language policy are based on the socio-cultural reality of our country.
