Summary/Abstract: Given the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions it imposed led to serious disturbance in global value chains (GVCs) and put a number of international businesses to the test, the immediate effects of COVID-19 on GVCs are analysed, as well as the midterm trends over the last decade in GVCs development are presented. The key driver factors for the future of GVCs are outlined in two major directions: 1) technological and economic factors; 2) policy factors. Possible scenarions/ trajectories of GVCs are described and conclusions are drawn-up on the COVID-19 effect over the probability for them to happen.
