Economy of Bulgaria in the Last 30 Years: Restructuring and Foreign Trade

Summary/Abstract: The development of countries has different stages that determine their economies. Bulgaria and other Central and Eastern European countries have experienced a significant restructuring in the last 30 years. The restructuring from centrally planned to market economies was accompanied by the association process and joining the European Union as well as with a number of economic and financial crises. In the study are reviewed: 1. The relationship between the state and the economy; 2. The macroeconomic processes, and 3. The major trends in foreign trade of Bulgaria.
