Summary/Abstract: The present paper is an anthropological analysis of the wedding ceremony in Turț, based on fieldwork research from 10 years ago during July 10th -17th, 2011, Satu Mare County, in the Nort-Western part of Romania. The research methods used on the field were the direct observation and the semi-structured, structured, and life-story types of interviews. Our research emphasizes the fact that the wedding represents the most important community event in Turț; it takes place according to a calendar that depends both on tradition and the holidays of those who work abroad. The contemporary wedding ceremony in Turț still preserves, largely, the specific elements of the traditional wedding. The traditional stages in the development of the wedding are carried out during the three-day ceremony, until the participants leave for the venue, where elements specific to the urban contemporary wedding appear.
