Without Animal Tamers in the Teaching of History

Summary/Abstract: Emphasizing the exclusive mission of the history to stimulate the young people to think for themselves, the author expresses some concern that the directives of the educational programs and the digested texts in the textbooks, could lead to the return of old practices of one way ideological and political attitudes in the understanding of the historical process. S. Grancharov points out that it is not advisable to remain silent over the not so pleasant pages of the national history due to “patriotic” considerations and to avoid information about the existence of different interpretations about some important and controversial questions. The nation, according to the author, needs thinking people, and the history has to play an important role in stimulating the people to think.
