Summary/Abstract: Nowadays, colleges of higher education are more and more often attributed the role of a leader of changes towards the achievement of the idea of sustainable development, including sustainable mobility. Activities conducted by universities should be complementary to initiatives undertaken within urban and regional sustainable transport policies. The research to date has focused mostly on case studies of different universities, mainly in terms of conducted actions and their effectiveness. Only a few studies compare student mobility in the case of public universities. The goal of this paper is to investigate whether there are differences between students of one private and students of one public university in Wrocław regarding basic factors which determine transport choices, preferred means of transport, as well as satisfaction with communting and the meaning of different transport demands. The analysis of survey results was based on the Pearson chi-square test and V Cramer test, comparison of medians and frequencies of answers. The identified differences in the studied aspects of transport behaviour were used to formulate recommendations for the urban and regional sustainable transport policies.
