Summary/Abstract: This paper draws attention to continuities and transformations within the discourse on the integration of art and architecture. The first part examines the modern synthesis of the arts through the works of Sigfried Giedion, Nikolaus Pevsner, Le Corbusier, Paul Damaz, André Bloc, Fernand Léger, and Asger Jorn. The second part investigates the links between this discourse of the mid-20th century and the subsequent forms of architecture and art that emerged in the decades that followed, as well as the contemporary discourse on connecting art and architecture that introduced new vocabulary and challenged those very same “traditional” concepts in which it was rooted.
